There's a second trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen available online. It was placed before the new Friday the 13th since it is also a Michael Bay film and has not been officially released online yet. But thanks to people bootlegging it and putting it on Youtube those of us who don't see the the preview in theaters can still get a glimpse of it in a lower quality. So without further ado:
***************Spoiler Alert***************
I've heard that the big ass Decepticon is none other than Devastator which means that we should see the Constructicons in this one. The problem here of course is that Devestator was already in the first one as the tank which if you look at the toys it actually said was Brawl and in the first movie he was killed by Bumblebee. The other issue is that Bonecrusher was in the first movie as well and gets killed by Optimus Prime when he gets decapitated by his sword. The only Decepticons I remember getting away are Starscream and Barricade. This could make things really interesting on the fanboy front.

The Joker's Retirement
I was going through my RSS feeds earlier and ran across this little bit of news on wired.com relating to the future of The Joker in live-action Batman films. It seems that at The Ultimate Joker web page there is a petition to make Heath Ledger's portrayal the final version in the live-action movies. It is difficult to argue that Ledger has been the greatest Joker so far and that he will be difficult to top, if not impossible. But I also don't think that it is fair to make his the end all be all of the biggest, most popular, and most devious Batman villian. To have The Joker just disappear and fall off the face of the earth never to be heard from again after The Dark Knight is not the right thing to do. Some fans will be upset that they continued a story involving The Joker at all but I for one would almost be more upset if that put an end to him when he is locked up in Arkham Asylum not causing mayhem. There have been so many greats to play The Joker from Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson to Mark Hammil in several animated versions. Why should it stop there and deny any future actors from taking up the purple suit and green hair? Do you agree or not? Feel free to chime in.

Steelers win Super Bowl XLIII
First and foremost congratulations to the Steelers on winning in the Super Bowl tonight. There has been a lot of crying about the refs going light on the Steelers and heavy on the Cardinals. Some have even said the refs had to have been paid off. Just stop it now, please, for the sanity of all around you. I have a theory that in any game, especially a high profile one such as this, the losing team is always seeing more than is really there. Is it possible that we are going to see something that the refs may not? Of course, they're humans not robots. They make mistakes just like anyone who may read this post. I have been a proud Steelers fan since the first time I saw Kordell Stewart play in I believe 1998. Since then I have watched them win 2 Super Bowls and go through many successes and losses, also looking at Kordell Stewart. I'm sorry, the man was fun to watch but he was sorely lacking by the time they let him go. So now I just have to wait until next season when I see all the new bandwagoners join in wearing the Roethlisberger, Polamalu, Ward, and Parker jersies. All great players but I would much rather sport my Heath Miller and James Farriors. Enough of that though because while I am ecstatic that my team won I am completely nerding out over the movie trailers for tonight. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, Monsters vs Aliens, and Fast and Furious. Just kidding on that last one, it was good for a laugh though.
Since one of the big focuses on the commercials this year was 3-D I'll bring Monsters vs Aliens to bat first. I am looking forward to this movie. It's by the same people that gave us Shrek, Madagascar, Over the Hedge, and Kung Fu Panda so how am I not supposed to expect it to be good? I remember seeing a leaked trailer online months ago and wanted more right away. The whole 3-D thing didn't really work for me though. It was neat and all but like a lot of people I think it just didn't work well because the TV is not really a large enough format to get the full effect. It could also be because I did just see My Bloody Valentine in 3-D so I was not sure what to really expect seeing it on a TV. It kept me interested enough to still want to see it in theaters by giving me a couple of laughs here and there and a little more idea of the plot but the 3-D wasn't for me.
I've never been a huge Star Trek fan and have only watched a little bit but I think that's what the new movie is for, people like me. We get a fresh start with the characters that most of us know of but not all of us really know the background of or their personalities at all. Add onto that the fact that it is directed by J.J. Abrams produced by his production compaany Bad Robot who I have yet to be dissappointed with and I am there. Some hardcore fans are saying that it looks like Star Trek in high school but to me it provides a fresh start without having to dig through years of original Star Trek episodes, which by the way I am planning on doing soon anyways.
Transformers seems to be the big one that really hit it home this year for both myself and my friends. Just in seeing the trailer we've already started planning what we are going to do on opening night and where we are going to see it at. I don't really know what to say about it until I watch it again because if you saw my room you would see Transformer stuff everywhere so it's one that I would really hate to get wrong. From what I remember it gave a glimpse of a couple of new characters and robots (Ravage?) and showed us the action we should expect from the Michael Bay film.
And finally, G.I. Joe. I'm not really sure what to make of this because while I remember watching the show as a kid I don't actually remember anything about it. The trailer seemed like Cobra causing terrorist attacks and then Dennis Quaid (not sure his characters name) assembles a team to stop them. I remember Snak Eyes from the cartoon and that's about it, but he was in there so that was cool. Looked like a fun action/special ops film. Will it live up to its cartoon counterpart? I don't think so, but a longer more in-depth trailer may be necessary to even begin to make that assumption. The links for the trailers follow. Take care.

School Days
So here we are. I have finally decided to get a blog up and running. Thus far there are no bells and whistles so I will get to that in the future. I am not really sure what to write about so I'll just let you know what's been going on with my life in college this semester and touch a bit on what the past few have been for me in my journey to bettering my life and eventually having a career I can be satisfied in. I am currently a communication major with an emphasis on broadcast journalism. This is the third time that I have changed majors in my short one year career as a WSU student and I'm hoping this one sticks, or at any rate that if it doesn't there is something very similar out there to make the transition a bit more smooth. I am not really all too sure what all Broadcast Journalism is going to entail yet but I understand that it will involve photography, videography, writing, and a little bit of electronic media (podcasts, internet radio, etc.) my adviser told me it sounded most like what I was looking for so here's hoping she's right. The problem is that I decided on this about 2 days into classes this semester which means I already missed a week of work for one of the classes because of a time conflict and have a bit of catching up to do there and am currently a little overwhelmed. At any rate I thnk it will be a better fit for me these days than Management Information Systems or Computer Science. So there you have it. First post completed. I promise to be at least a little more exciting in future additions and possibly cover a fun game I'm playing or how much I love the Windows 7 beta. We shall see.
Until next time friends.
